Funeral services will be held for Chris Elton Parrish, 79, of Pocasset, Oklahoma at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in the Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating.

Chris Parrish was born in Pocasset, Oklahoma, on February 10, 1934, the son of Elton and Mabel Ring Parrish. He died Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home near Pocasset.

Chris grew up in Pocasset and graduated from Pocasset High School in 1952. After graduation he attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Chris married Wynona Benson and from this union came two children Chris Parrish Jr. and Mark Parrish.

Chris was employed with Hughes Tool Company and later became a traveling salesman for IMC Fertilizer Company. He was also a farmer/rancher for over 60 years in Pocasset, Oklahoma.

Chris was active in many groups: Pocasset Masonic Lodge, Chairman of Chisholm Trail Memorial Association, 14 year committee chairman of Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association where he served on the Brand & Theft Commission, member of the Flying Farmers Association, and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon where he graduated at Oklahoma A&M. He was also a 25 year member of the Chickasha Rodeo Association, and served as president. Also he served as president of the Grady County Mineral Owners and the Grady County Cattleman’s Assiciation.

He was preceded in death by: both parents; Mabel Ring Parrish and Elton Parrish.

Survivors include: son; Chris Parrish and wife Dona, son; Mark Parrish, grandson; Clay Parrish and wife Holly, all of Pocasset, Oklahoma, grandson; Ryan Parrish, and granddaughter; Kristen Parrish both of Chickasha, Oklahoma, granddaughter; Tori Breedlove and husband John of Cleveland, Oklahoma, great grandchildren; Cash and Clayre Parrish, Taylor Breedlove, and Bryden Ford.

Casket will open at the funeral home and closed at the service.

Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

  • Theodore "Ted" A. Diaconoff

    Ted Diaconoff, age 84 of Chickasha, was born the son of Andre Diaconoff and Evelyn Hotson Diaconoff on Oct. 7, 1928, in Akron, Ohio. He died on May 19, 2013 in Chickasha.
    After receiving his masters degree, Ted continued his education and received his Phd at UCLA. He also attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City where he studied piano and composition and was a faculty assistant. He later held teaching positions at universities in Michigan, Kentucky, then at USAO in Chickasha where he was a professor of music.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty.
    Survivors include his brothers, Phillip Diaconoff of Livermore, Calif. and Peter Diaconoff of Santa Fe, NM.
    Arrangements for cremation are with the McRay Funeral Home. There will be no services.

  • Patsy McDonald Rhymes

    Patsy McDonald Rhymes, 62, of Chickasha, beloved wife of Danny Rhymes, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  She will be greatly missed by a large and loving extended family and many friends.  Patsy was a devoted wife and mother and spent most of her time caring for her family. 
    She is survived by her husband Danny, her son Starling and his wife Connie, and grandchildren Rochelle and Michael.  Patsy was especially close to her niece Pam and also leaves behind her brothers Charles, Paige, and Roland along with her sisters Thelma and Jeana. 
    Graveside services were held in Hominy,  on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by her longtime family minister, Rev. Leonard Lindsay.  Arrangements are being handled by Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.

    Private graveside services were held for Noyka Hadley, 67, of Chickasha, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
    Noyka was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She died May 11, 2013, in Chickasha.
    Services were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

  • Lois Morris

    Funeral service for Lois Morris, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha.  Lois was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Elva L. and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton.  She died May 13, 2013, in Muskogee.

    Graveside services for Betty Jo James, 84.will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City and Wednesday and Thursday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs.
    Betty was born in Cox City,  on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1928 and passed from this life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Elk City.

  • Freida Perkins

    Funeral services for Freida Perkins, 95, of Chickasha,  will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
    Freida Perkins was born March 19, 1918, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
    Mrs. Perkins married Daniel Perkins on November 14, 1940.  She and Daniel lived in New Mexico from 1940 to 1980, when they moved to the Amber area.
    She had worked in the New Mexico public school system and after moving to Amber she worked at the Amber Café for seven years.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Perkins in 1986 and a son, Danny Perkins in 2010.
    Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister, Esther Healey, of PawPaw, Michigan; four grandchildren:  Penny Fuller, George Perkins, Wayne Perkins and T.J. Perkins; 11 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law:  Wynema Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carla and Eddie.
    Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
