Funeral service for Andrew Albert Handke, age 86 of Verden, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Johnny Wray will officiate and Rev. Rodger Willis will assist.

Andrew Albert was born the son of Albert Handke and Lola Mae Shook Handke on Jan. 28, 1926 North of Dutton. He died on Oct. 9, 2012 in Chickasha.

Andrew grew up in the Dutton/Verden area and graduated from Verden High School in 1944. He married Helen Nath in 1945 and they made their home on a farm north of Verden. He farmed and ranched in the Verden area all of his life. He was a contributor to the construction of Chichasha Lake where he displayed his love of skiing. He was a master of water skiing and was skilled at jumping the ski ramp while Helen drove the boat. He loved to show cattle with his kids and enjoyed following them in their school activities. Andrew served on the Verden School board while they built several buildings for the ag program. He was an FFA Honorary Farmer. Andrew also served on the Grady County Fair Board. Throughout his life he was a supporter and contributor to the Verden Public Schools FFA and Athletic Programs. He was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church and later the Verden First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lola Mae Handke and one sister, Anita Merritt.

Survivors include: Wife: Helen Handke of the home; Daughter and Husband: Ruth Ann and Keith James of Enid; Son: Kenneth Handke of Verden; Son and Wife: Keith and Judy Handke of Verden; Sister: Beaulah Crooks of California; Grandchildren: Judi Wood, Natalie Church, Reed James, Roxi Tallent, Amy Zerger, and Derek Handke; and Great Grandchildren: Rebecca Wood, Will and Weston Church, Piper James, Kylee and Rylon Tallent, Ethan and Dylan Zerger, Makenzie and Katelyn Handke

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home, Chickasha.

    Private graveside services were held for Noyka Hadley, 67, of Chickasha, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
    Noyka was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She died May 11, 2013, in Chickasha.
    Services were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

    Funeral service for Lois Morris, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha.  Lois was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Elva L. and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton.  She died May 13, 2013, in Muskogee.

    Graveside services for Betty Jo James, 84.will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City and Wednesday and Thursday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs.
    Betty was born in Cox City,  on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1928 and passed from this life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Elk City.

  • Freida Perkins

    Funeral services for Freida Perkins, 95, of Chickasha,  will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
    Freida Perkins was born March 19, 1918, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
    Mrs. Perkins married Daniel Perkins on November 14, 1940.  She and Daniel lived in New Mexico from 1940 to 1980, when they moved to the Amber area.
    She had worked in the New Mexico public school system and after moving to Amber she worked at the Amber Café for seven years.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Perkins in 1986 and a son, Danny Perkins in 2010.
    Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister, Esther Healey, of PawPaw, Michigan; four grandchildren:  Penny Fuller, George Perkins, Wayne Perkins and T.J. Perkins; 11 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law:  Wynema Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carla and Eddie.
    Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
