Gary Don Shaw
Funeral services for Gary Don Shaw, 63, were held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Bible Baptist Church with Brother Kim Hayes officiating. Interment was at Laverty Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Gary Don Shaw was born March 17, 1949 on Shaw Hill in Alex, the son of Willie Burton Shaw and Ina Mae Long Shaw. He departed this life Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Gary attended Alex Public Schools and was a 1967 graduate of Alex High School. He joined the Navy in 1967, serving in Vietnam for over one year. After the Navy, he returned to the Chickasha area and became a successful diesel mechanic, working for Hoffman Pipe and Steel and Lambrecht Brothers. He then worked for Johnson’s Wrecker, Washita Valley Transit Authority and General Supply. Gary was a member of the local American Legion and the Chickasha Auxilliary Police.
Gary married Betty Jackson in 1969. He later married Julia Anna Tuck in 1976. Gary lived in the Chickasha area all his life. He never met a stranger, finding a friend in nearly every person he came across. Gary loved his wife Judie, OU Football, playing pool, his cars, his dogs, and his family dearly. He was nearly insufferable when it came to his nieces, nephews and grandchildren, doting on them constantly.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Willie Burton Shaw, and his loving wife, Judie Shaw.
Gary is survived by his mother: Ina Mae Long Shaw; son: Steven D. Yeager and wife, Amie; grandchildren: Grant, Sam, Ben and Lila Grace; brother: Jimmy Loyd Shaw and wife, Janet; sister: Willie Mae Sterling and husband, Dany; brother: Danny Joe Shaw and wife, Betty; sister: Arlene Bernice Mills and husband, Rickey; sister: Charlene Della Shaw; sister: Josephine Delois Shaw; niece: Russella Mae Shaw Mitchell and husband, Damon; nephew: James Joseph Michael Shaw, and wife Courtney; niece: Christy Lee Sterling Claphan and husband, Monte; niece: Angela Rhea Sterling Nixon and husband, Joseph; nephew: Kenneth Aubrey Sterling II and wife Chandra; nephew: Keaton Daniel Shaw, and wife Tracey; nephew: Lance Joseph Shaw; niece: Regina Louise Mills Baker, and husband Charley; nephew: Jesse Tye Mills and fiancé Jodie; nephew: Jonathan David Mills and son Bentley; Niece: Lorranna Lee Tuck Reed and husband, Steve; niece: Jana Beth Tuck Ketchum and husband, Jimmy; great-great nephew: Joseph Glen Kuykendall, along with a host of great nieces, nephews, extended family and other outlaws.
Pallbearers were Jesse Mills, Jonathan Mills, Kenneth Sterling, Keaton Shaw, Lance Shaw, Joseph Nixon, Steve Yeager, Grant Yeager, Sam Yeager and Ben Yeager. Honorary pallbearers were Arlene Mills, J. J. Shaw, Monte Claphan, and Adam Kuykendall.
