OKLAHOMA CITY —
The Blanchard High School football team advanced to the class 3A state championship game by beating Jones convincingly at Putnam City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions won the game 35-7, removing any doubt about whether they got lucky when the beat Jones 28-25 in the regular season.
Blanchard was in control the entire game. The Lions scored the first two touchdowns of the game in the early part of the first quarter.
Jones' only points of the game came on defense, when the Longhorns returned a Blanchard fumble for a touchdown late in the third quarter. Blanchard was already leading by four scores at that point, however.
The date and time of the state championship game is to be announced. It will be played at Boone Pickens Stadium at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. on either Friday, Dec. 7 or Saturday, Dec. 8, and the Lions will play the winner of today's game between Seminole and Kingfisher, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
