Long weekend for Chickasha in Skiatook

—

Five matches and ten games is a lot of volleyball for one day, and unfortunately for the Lady Chicks, they weren't able to come away with any wins to show for the work.

"It was a long day," head coach Nancy Waters said. "We played well in spurts, but they were few and far between."

Chickasha lost to Skiatook, the Oklahoma City Storm, Tulsa Edison, Holland Hall and Tulsa Memorial.

The matches against the Storm and Holland Hall weren't close, but the Lady Chicks competed better in the other three matches.

"In games where we were competitive, Skiatook, Memorial and Edison, we would be close for the first 10 points or so and then give up a run of seven or eight points and that was the game, we could never recover from those runs."

On the bright side, sophomore Chloe Reyes represented well for the Lady Chicks, making the all-tournament team

Reyes had 17 kills total in the tournament. Ashley Hannah had 14.

Rory Traub had 30 digs in the tournament, including ten against Skiatook. Devyn Crosley had 28 on Saturday.

There's not much time to dwell on the losses, because Chickasha has two games this week.

Tuesday, the Lady Chicks are scheduled to host the Duncan Lady Demons at 4:30 p.m.

Tecumseh, a team Chickasha saw during summer league play, comes to the Chickasha Activity Center on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

There is a fine line between parenting and coaching. Sure, sometimes they end up crossing paths. I, for one, learned many life lessons in sports, and that's probably why I want to work in that area. But for the most part, they are separate, and it should stay that way.
