Chickasha’s Deven Brandt and Jessica White have been named to the Oklahoma Fastpitch Coaches Association Large West All-State team.
The Large West and Large East teams are made up of the cream of both 5A and 6A schools. Brandt was the top vote getter for all outfielders (three are picked regardless of which actual outfield position they played for their team) and White was the top vote getter for third basemen.
“I’m very proud of them,” Lady Chick coach Bill Berry said. “They’ve accomplished a lot and the honor is well-deserved.”
Brandt, who led off, finished the season with a .500 batting average, an on-base average of .571 and a fielding average of .986. White, hitting out of the two-hole, finished with a .493 batting average, an on-base average of .493 and a fielding average of .893.
The Large West team is made up of pitcher Samantha Bachman (Carl Albert), catcher Morgan Russell (Edmond Santa Fe), first baseman Taylor Thorne (MacArthur), second baseman Autumn Brown (Carl Albert), White at third, shortstop Chelsea Garcia (Moore) and outfielders Brandt, Brittney Osborn (Edmond Santa Fe) and Kayce Raines (Choctaw).
Also named were pitchers Lisa Hughes (Edmond Memorial) and Rachael Steverson (Yukon) and catcher Alyssa Weatherly (MacArthur). Utility players named were Karolyne Long (Carl Albert), Davee Kroy (Duncan), Mimi Barkley (Putnam City), Lindsey Moore (Edmond Memorial), Sara Gower (PC North) and Vicki Roosa (PC West).
The team will be coached by Carl Albert’s Colin White and will play the Large East team at the University of Oklahoma’s complex during All-State week next June.
