Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said he would make announcements about the Sooners' 2012 roster “in the next day or two” Monday at his Sooner Appreciation Day Golf Tournament at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
There are several players whose status for the coming season is in jeopardy.
Receivers Jaz Reynolds, Trey Franks and Kameel Jackson and defensive back Quentin Hayes were removed from scholarship in May due to a “violation of team rules.” Stoops hasn’t said whether any of the four will be allowed back on the team or not.
OU’s current roster doesn’t have any of the four on it. A decision will be made prior to the Sooners’ first preseason practice on Friday.
“I haven’t made any of those determinations yet. I will by Thursday when we’re allowed to have 105 guys practice,” Stoops said. “I’ll have that cleaned up by Wednesday, but none of that has changed.”
Also, the status of several junior college players OU signed in February will be settled.
A source close to the program told The Transcript on Monday that junior college offensive lineman Will Latu was not able qualify and will not be able to enroll at OU.
Junior college wide receiver Courtney Gardner still hasn’t qualified to enroll and isn’t likely to play this season. Junior college wide receiver LaColtan Bester is still waiting on clearance from the NCAA to enroll, but is expected to be cleared.
Also, a source close to the program confirmed that redshirt freshman offensive lineman Dylan Dismuke has left the program.
