‘Horns hope to hook Hornets

The Longhorns (4-1) start the second half of the season hosting winless Macomb Friday.

The Hornets got pounded 58-12 by Sasakwa in week one, got stung with three straight 45s and lost big at home last week to Fox 48-14.

The Fox loss, by the way, was their fifteenth straight after a winless season last year.

They have a pretty good quarterback, senior James Joseph, and a pretty good receiver, senior James Turney, but not much of a running game or interior line to give them time to work.

The numbers speak for themselves defensively. Simply, they can’t stop anyone.

Alex will stay with the game plan that they’ve been using with success – run at them until they stop you.

Look for Randy Alexander to run wild and the game to end at, or just after, the half.

The senior rambled for 281 yards and three touchdowns on 41 carries in their 38-36 win at Allen last week and quarterback Wayne Heffington has found a really good target in freshman receiver Dakota Savage, who’s caught three touchdown passes in the past two weeks and had 116 yards last week on five receptions.

The duo gets better every week, giving the Longhorns a true, two-headed monster to keep the defense from keying on Alexander.
