Both the CMS seventh and eighth grade boys won Thursday to claim ninth place in the Suburban Conference Championships.
Allen Coley’s seventh graders got by El Reno 28-27 to close out their season and Tanner Roof’s eighth graders routed Western Heights 41-15 to finish with an exclamation point.
El Reno led 8-6 after the first quarter but the seventh grade Chicks held them to three points in the second quarter to grab a 14-11 halftime lead.
The game was tied at 21 apiece after three and the Chicks won it with a solid fourth-quarter effort.
Daniel Thellis had a team-high 10 points.
, Brandon Shumway added seven, Taray Thomas had five and Harrison Williams, Cody Burrows and Cole Young had two points each.
The eighth grade Chicks opened up a quick 11-2 lead and kept building on it, taking a 27-9 lead to the locker room and extending to 38-12 after three quarters.
T.J. Filer led with a game-high 16 points, Rashawn Thomas had 11, Cade Morris and Tresjon Davis added five each and Weston Pelzer and Oron Stephenson had two points each.
