NOBLE – Because of Noble’s Homecoming, the boys played first Friday night and Chickasha got the action started with a 76-51 pounding of the host Bears.

Noble’s Josh Acosta kept it kind of respectable with 29 points, but the Chick defense shut down the rest of the Bears and three guys got into double figures on offense.

The Chicks scored from all over the floor in a balanced and well-executed offensive showing. Chase Rodgers led with 26 points, nailing four threes, Jacobi Davis had 20 slashing into the lane and crashing the offensive boards and Ryan Hightower finished with 18, ten of them inside and the other eight from the line as he drew lots of attention and contact.

In their earlier game at the Activity Center, Noble hung around and stayed close throughout the entire first half and point guard Will Starr kept beating the Chick defense off the dribble for ten fourth-quarter points.

Not Friday.

Chickasha took it right to them, building a 21-8 first-quarter lead on two threes from Rodgers and one from Taylor Wilson as all five starters got into the book right away.

Acosta was held scoreless through the first eight minutes but heated up attacking the lane for nine points to keep things from getting out of hand in the second quarter and the Chicks went to the locker room up 35-19.

They came back out and went off for 23 third-quarter points on ten from Davis and seven from Rodgers. Acosta tried to rally the troops down the stretch, scoring another eight, but the Chicks spread the ball around and managed the clock well to hold Noble off for the double-digit win.

Wilson finished with seven points, Nolan Peek had four and junior Dustyn Lister capped it off with a free throw with a minute left in the game.
