CHICKASHA – The Drovers pulled out one victory against No. 3 Oklahoma City this weekend.
After losing the first game at OCU, the Drovers started strong in the double header Saturday, winning the first 5-4 behind pitcher Nate Hammons.
Hammons threw a complete game with eight strikeouts and allowing only six hits against the strong-hitting Stars.
Luke Krobath went two of three with one run and an RBI, and Jake Dunbar scored another run for the Drovers and hit two of two.
Designated hitter Newt Compton batted in two runs on his hit in the first game.
The Drovers struggled against the Stars in the second game, coming out with only one run in eight hits.
Freshman Robert Summers hit an in-the-park home run up the center in the second game to give the Drovers their only run. The Drovers lost 15-1.
Caleb Martin spent 4.2 innings on the mound. He allowed eight hits and threw four strikeouts.
USAO is 15-5 in the season, and 4-5 in conference play.
The Drovers head to Sterling College for a double header on Tuesday before returning to Bill Smith Ballpark for a single game against Southern Nazarene.
