Resendez takes home title, OW at junior high tourney

CHICKASHA — The Chickasha Junior High wrestling team finished third overall in the Chickasha Invitational on Friday and Saturday, taking home one individual title.

Freshman Dakota Resendez went 4-0, winning all his matches by fall on the way to the 113-pound championship.

Resendez beat Cross Factor (Yukon), Tavion Barber, (Jefferson), Austin Neal (Kingfisher), and Gage McBride (Mustang).

He earned the awards for Outstanding Wrestler and most falls in the least amount of time.

Montana Moon finished second at 80 pounds, losing to Norman North's Jakob Houston in the championship match by fall.

Lamar Neff also earned a second-place finish, going 3-1 and losing to Maddie Roney of Kingfisher by major decision in the finals at 106 pounds.

At 132 pounds, Denver Calhoun was the runner-up to Ross Shawnee (Geary), losing in a 9-4 decision.

Dalton Phillips went 6-1 and finished third at 126 pounds. Kobe Powell went 4-2 and placed fourth in the heavyweight division. Dao Xian Lim went 3-3 and finished sixth at 162 pounds. T.J. Wicks went 2-2 and placed fifth at 175 pounds.

High school to host districts

The Chickasha High School wrestling team will host the district duals against Western Heights, Lawton MacArthur and Noble tonight, starting at 5 p.m.
