    You may see a few new guys on the mound for the Drovers next season as Coach Mike Ross works to recruit more pitchers for the team.
    And his newest signee is recent Verden graduate Colton Henricks.

  • Drover Baseball, softball programs host golf tournament

    The baseball and softball programs at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma are hosting a fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 28.
    The tournament will be during the programs’ first alumni weekend but will be open to everyone. Participants can work in four-person teams during the scramble.
    Softball Coach Jenn White-Cody said the program did a similar tournament last year.

    The Drovers’ strong start this season led to the school’s first back-to-back winning seasons for the baseball team.
    Head Coach Mike Ross said he has mixed emotions about the 2010 season.
    “It’s tough to say. We were very disappointed that it didn’t turn out as good as we thought,” he said. “But when you look back at it, we still had the third best season in school history.”

    Things had begun to fall into place for the Lady Drovers softball team just as the first season under head coach Jenn White-Cody came to a close.
    The team struggled throughout the year to get everyone in the right place to make the team the strongest it could be, Cody said. Only the pitchers and the catcher started the season playing the same position they finished in.
