BLOG: Technological integration is inevitable trend

CHICKASHA — Over the last few months I have delved deep into the world of technology integration and modern teaching methods. On this journey I've discovered an incredible amount of both exciting and terrifying facts.

Studies show today's students are less prepared for post secondary life than those in the past. Reading ability has trended downward over the past two decades while the difficultly of reading material has trended upward.

However, an argument can be made that this is an empty statistic as we have moved more toward a technological and math based society both socially and professionally. Colleges and the professional world have embraced this trend.

So where does that leave us?

Some may fear that this trend will leave us with a generation that has no respect for the written word and little to no interest in creating literary works of art. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't among them, but I do realize the importance of keeping up with social norms. The United States is not alone in this progression and it is necessary that we maintain our completive edge with the rest of the world. It seems to be something of a double edged sword and I can't really say on which side I'd like to see us land.

The only certain thing is technological integration is here to stay, so we as a people might as well embrace it.
