USAO splits at home with Lubbock Christian

CHICKASHA — A strong offensive game for the No. 23 Drovers led them to a 10-point victory over conference foe Lubbock Christian in a Saturday afternoon meeting.

The game went back-and-forth for the first few minutes before the Drovers (10-4, 3-3) were able to pull out to a commanding lead, entering halftime up 41-24.

USAO led the entire second half — at one point by as much as 26 — before ultimately winning their third conference game and 10th overall.

The Drovers will play No. 5 Oklahoma Baptist at home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Arvest Bank is sponsoring that game.

The Drover women battled hard and never gave up, but just couldn’t overcome the powerful No. 2 Lubbock Christian team.

Tough to defend, the Lady Chaps held up to their hype and shot 52 percent from the field in the game.

The Drovers, who scored 54 on the No. 2 team in the country, had 27 bench points as compared to the Chaps’ 23.

Krista Ford led the Drovers with nine points. Tashina Ototivo, a senior from Walters, wasn’t far behind with eight points.

The Drovers (9-9, 0-6) shot 31.5 percent from the field in the game and had a stronger second half with 32. The Drovers fell 86-54.

The Drovers will play Oklahoma Baptist at home at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
