Drovers win third straight at SNU

— The USAO men's basketball team stayed undefeated with a road win over Southern Nazarene University on Tuesday in Bethany, Okla.

The Drovers beat the Crimson Storm 93-78, and are now 3-0 this season. It was an exhibition game for Southern Nazarene, its first game of the season.

The Crimson Storm actually had a double-digit lead in the first half. SNU shot 58 percent from the field and 60 percent (6-for-10) from 3-point range, and led 49-36 at halftime.

The Drovers only shot 37 percent from the field and 27 percent from 3-point range in the first half.

In the second half, USAO got back to the style that has brought them success so far this season, playing good defense and forcing turnovers that lead to points.

Southern Nazarene turned the ball over 29 times in the game, and 20 of those came in the second half, leading to 35 USAO points. The Drovers had 16 fast break points and SNU had none in the second half.

USAO shot 64 percent from the field in the second half, while holding Southern Nazarene to 47 percent shooting.

Guard Phillip Harris and forward Brandon Cutler led the way on offense for USAO. Harris was the team's leading scorer with 22 points, and he shot 6-for-11 from the 3-point line.

Cutler scored 21 points on 6-for-10 shooting, and he was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

Other Drovers in double figures were Jahseth Lloyd with 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Norris Rumph with 14 points.

USAO took control of the game in the second half with a 17-2 run from 8:14 left in the game until the 3:54 mark.
