Some locations for new businesses plotted

CHICKASHA — Developmental interests are still booming in Chickasha. Four businesses have decided to build in Chickasha including Interurban, GameStop, Boomerang and Dollar Tree.

Interurban has chosen a building site east of the Best Western hotel and south of Wal-Mart. Interurban is restaurant chain in Oklahoma that offers American-style food. The menu ranges from honey pepper bacon burgers to margherita pizza.

Boomerang Restaurant has decided to open its restaurant in the South Land Shopping Center, home to other businesses such as Goodwill, Keepin It Sweet and Rue 21. It will be located behind Taco Mayo, where the old bowling alley was located.

Dollar Tree and GameStop have both committed to building in Chickasha, but still haven't decided on a location.

Although he could not confirm, Ryan Posey, president of the Chickasha Area Economic Development Council, thinks both businesses will decide to build in the South Land shopping center in the end.

Although Dollar General has been in Chickasha for quite some time, one of two locations are moving to the lot just east of the new Factory Connection store on Grand.

The CAEDC has formulated a new standard menu of business incentives.

"This allows new and existing businesses to be on a level playing field," Posey said.

According to Posey, established businesses in town have complained that all the incentives are for new and emerging businesses.

There is also a lot of interest in well services, oil and gas development, according to Posey.
