Creativity meets fiscal responsibility in the American Banking Association's (ABA) "Lights, Camera, Save!" video competition.
The First National Bank and Trust Company of Chickasha announced their winners on Dec. 19. Reagan Elkins of Chickasha won first place ($500), Alex Nemec of Blanchard won second place ($250) and Sarah Ford of Minco won third place ($100).
Reagan Elkins video, "Saving My Clams," is a rap video made by Reagan and his brother, Noah Elkins.
The video shows the Elkins brothers rapping about saving money and all the glory that comes with it. The video can be found on YouTube. Just type in "Saving My Clams" and prepare to get schooled.
"Saving My Clams" will be entered into the national "Lights, Camera, Save" competition.
Tim Koehler, Vice President Loan Officer of First National Bank and Trust Company of Chickasha, said that they received 10 entries for the competition.
Koehler said it's been fun viewing the video entries, both past and present. Many of these videos can be found on YouTube.
Not all of the entries were music videos, Koehler said. Some were skits, such as a personification of debt on the attack and a story about receiving a first paycheck.
The contest was judged by three University of Science and Art Oklahoma students: Kylee Taylor of Tulsa, Matthew Watson of Tuttle and Dexter Nelson of Tuttle, according to Nancy L. Smith, EVP and Marketing Director of First National Bank and Trust Company of Chickasha.
"We are excited with the response with our first year of video competition," Smith said. "Teenagers today are masterminds with computers and electronics. We want to use their talents and skills to promote and educate others in money management."
The competition is part of the Teach Children to Save Campaign, which aims to guide young people towards lifelong saving habits.
At the national level, the winning video has a chance to at $3,000, $1,500 and $500 with up to $1,500 for the winner's school.
The First National Bank and Trust Company has been serving its communities for 120 years. Branch locations are in Chickasha, Alex, Minco, Cyril, Rush Springs, Tuttle, Blanchard, Newcastle and Mustang.
