Minor takes shotgun blast to hand

CHICKASHA — A party on 7th Street left a 15-year-old with a hole in his hand due to an accidental shotgun blast.

Brandon Colt Walker was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm unfair the influence of intoxicants and reckless conduct while possessing a firearm.

Several members of the Chickasha Police Department are quoted in an arrest affidavit for Walker that states,"Walker had an odor of alcoholic beverage about him and was unsteady on his feet."

The minor, whose name has been withheld for his safety, was found lying on the ground with his right hand covered in blood according to the report.

"I did notice that H.S.'s (the minor) right hand was covered in blood and he had a hole in his hand that appeared to be a gunshot wound," Officer Ryan Rahif said in the report.

The report states neighbor M'Lyssa Nunn said Walker walked outside onto the porch with the gun and the minor tried to calm him down and get the gun away from him. The minor then grabbed the barrel of the gun, identified as a 12 gauge Mossberg 500A shotgun, when it went off hitting the minor in the right hand.

Another neighbor, Aaron Voyles, gave a conflicting report.

Voyles states in the report that he was with Tristen Tiger at the party when Walker and Tiger got into an altercation.

"Voyles said Walker went and got a gun and they began to leave, but Tiger fell and knocked over the trash cans near the front porch," the report reads.

Walker then came out on the porch and began to raise the gun at Tiger when the minor stepped up to stop Walker and grabbed the gun.

The reports states that CPD attempted to speak with Tiger, but he was passed out and could not be awakened.

"Voyles said "that Tiger was extremely intoxicated," the report reads.

The report also states that a 12 gauge shotgun shell was discovered on the ground between the knocked over trash cans.
