BLOG: Tuttle produces another OSU Cowboy

TUTTLE — Oklahoma State University only has one football commitment from an in-state player leading into National Signing Day on Wednesday, and that commitment is from a Grady County player with a passion for Cowboys football.

Dawson Bassett, the brother of former Tuttle High School and Oklahoma State defensive end Cooper Bassett, received an offer from head coach Mike Gundy to play for OSU after a previous commit changed his mind about going to Stillwater.

Dawson had an offer from the University of Central Oklahoma and had received some interest from Missouri, but when a spot opened up with the Cowboys, Dawson got the call.

He wasn't as highly-recruited as his brother, but worked hard and stayed patient through his senior season, with the hope that the offers would come.

Cooper wasn't shy about lobbying for his brother with Oklahoma State coaches, and while Dawson is surely going to be an Oklahoma State football player on his own merit, it certainly doesn't hurt to have a supporter like Cooper singing your praises.

It's quite an accomplishment to earn a scholarship at a major Division I football program, and it is a positive reflection of the Bassett family, Tuttle High School and Grady County football to have another representative on college football's big stage.
