Oklahoma State 2013 football schedule released

— A season-opening battle with Mississippi State, the first visit to West Virginia since 1928 and a six-game home slate highlight the 2013 Oklahoma State football schedule, announced today by the Big 12 Conference.

The potential remains for games to change dates to accommodate Big 12 Conference television obligations.

The season gets underway Aug. 31 in Houston when the Cowboys battle Mississippi State in Reliant Stadium as part of the 2013 Texas Kickoff Classic.

OSU stays on the road the following week as it will face The University of Texas-San Antonio in the Alamodome on Sept. 7th. That game will pit head coach Mike Gundy against UTSA head coach Larry Coker. Coker was an OSU staff member during Gundy's playing days.

Oklahoma State opens its home schedule on Sept. 14 when Lamar visits Boone Pickens Stadium. OSU will be opening a season with two games away from Stillwater for the first time since 1998.

Following an off week, the Cowboys will play in Morgantown against West Virginia on Sept 28. Oklahoma State's only previous road game against the Mountaineers came in 1928.

The Big 12 home schedule begins the following week as Kansas State will be in town for an Oct. 5 contest.

After an open date on Oct. 12, OSU hits the heart of its schedule with TCU visiting on Oct 19, followed by roads trips to Iowa State (Oct. 26) and Texas Tech (Nov. 2).

Three of the final four games of the season will take place at Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys host Kansas on Nov. 9 and then close the road schedule Nov. 16 at Texas. Baylor returns to Stillwater on Nov. 23.

The Cowboys are idle Thanksgiving week before hosting Oklahoma on Dec. 7 in the season finale.

The 2013 Homecoming game is to be determined.
