Struggles continue for Chickasha volleyball

CHICKASHA —

The Shawnee volleyball team came into Chickasha and swept the Lady Chicks varsity and junior varsity team at the Activity Center on Tuesday.

The varsity lost 15-25, 4-25 and 9-25 to the Lady Wolves, and the junior varsity lost 17-25 and 19-25. The varsity is now 5-15 this season.

"In the first game we played well, and had only three passing errors," head coach Nancy Waters said. "The second and third games we were totally a different team. Way too many passing errors and mental mistakes."

Rory Troub had seven digs to lead the team, followed by Ashley Hannah who had five digs to go with two kills and one ace.

Chloe Reyes had three kills and one dig, and Alei Gann had one kill, three assists and two aces. Devyn Crosley had four digs and one ace, and Kaydee King had two assists and three digs.

The junior varsity lost a much closer match than the varsity did, but still fell short.

"JV did a good job," Waters said. "We were in the game all the way. Close in both games, but gave up a five-point run in the first and a six-point run in the second game. We must stop giving up those point runs and protect our serve."

Crosley led the way with 13 digs in the game. Gann had seven assists, and Jordan Trent had six digs.

Chickasha is scheduled to play El Reno at home Thursday, with the junior high match starting at 4 p.m. and being followed by the varsity and junior varsity.
