In the Saddle with junior Nicolas Alberto

CHICKASHA —

Junior Nicolas Alberto has helped lead the Drovers to the NAIA Quarterfinals both years he’s been to USAO, but this season, he’s hungry for more.

“As a team, I just want to win the title; go to nationals and win the title. Nothing less. That’s why I came back,” Alberto said. “Now, I’m a team captain so I have to work really hard in practice to show the young kids to follow my lead.”

Alberto took on the role as team captain at the beginning of the season. The Drovers are on their way to a successful year with potential of reaching Alberto’s goal.

“The season is going well so far. We are undefeated, number five in the country and have just conceded two goals in seven games, so it’s really good so far.”

Alberto found his way to Chickasha from Paris, France, in 2010 and has had a few cultural shocks to get over in the last few years.

“The first thing was the weather. It’s really hot up here,” he said. “And the language, and I miss the food back home.”

Drover fans can watch the interview with Nicolas Alberto at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday on local Channel 18.
