CHICKASHA —
Allen Byfield, 74, who went missing at noon on Tuesday, has been spotted around the Elgin/Caddo County area according to the Grady County Sheriff's office.
A store clerk in Elgin spotted a man fitting Byfield's description walking a dog on a leash at 8 a.m. this morning.
According to Byfield's family, he probably only has $40-50 on him. They are not sure how much gas he has in his truck.
He has been gone about 42 hours up until this morning.
Yesterday at 10 a.m. on HIghway 19, just out side of Caddo County, a man in a dark gray pickup with a Yorkshire Terrier asked a highway worker for directions back to the Chickasha/Grady County area.
The highway worker was not aware of the Silver Alert issued at the time, and it did not hit him until this morning that it might have been Byfield.
Byfield was also spotted at a McDonald's with a silver coffee mug that he wanted filled. Grady County Sheriff, Jim Weir said that the man's daughter had mentioned that Byfield keeps a silver coffee mug in his truck.
"They're sure that's a pretty good sign," Weir said.
At the time of the Silver Alert yesterday, Byfield was last seen weating blue jeans, a flannel shirt of unknown color, a gray baseball hat and glasses. He drives a gray 2006 Dodge pickup with a broken driver's side taillight and Oklahoma tag 819-GZR. He had a gray Yorkshire terrier with him.
Anyone with information should call 911.
