CHICKASHA —
The 55th Grammy Awards were aired on Sunday and brought in millions of viewers. Like every award show, there were good, bad and ugly parts of the evening.
Some of the things that ruled about the Grammys:
Some of the most deserving artists were given Grammys, including Gotye for Record of the Year for 'Somebody That I Used to Know' and for Best Pop Duo. Mumford and Sons won album of the year for Babel (I was cheering for them from my living room). Fun also took home a handful of Grammys for Best New Artist and Song of the Year for 'We Are Young.' Adele, our favorite Brit took home the Grammy for Best Solo Performance for the song 'Set Fire to the Rain.' The Black Keys also won several Grammys for Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for 'Lonely Boy.' Mumford and Sons performed their hit song, 'I Will Wait.' I'm pretty sure everyone in the audience sang along to The Lumineers performance of 'Hey Ho.' Elton John and ginger Ed Sheeran teamed up to perform Ed's hit song, 'The A-Team.'
Some of the things that weren't so awesome about the Grammys:
Taylor Swift…oh my. Don't get me wrong, I like Taylor Swift's songs, but her performance was terrible. The costumes were so out of place, it made me cringe. She was dressed in Alice in Wonderful-type costumes and it didn't make any sense. When it came to the line in the song, "So he calls me up and he's like I still love," where Taylor usually just speaks that, she decides to take a low-blow to recent ex Harry Styles from the boy band One Direction and speak it in a British accent. Seemed a bit juvenile, but I don't know. I also didn't like Frank Ocean's performance, but maybe it was just the goofy song he performed. Lastly, I didn't really like the host and his performance. I wish they would of got someone more appealing and funny. But hey! Over all, it was a fun evening of amazing artists.
