CHICKASHA —
An error while updating the records management system for the Chickasha Police Department made it impossible for public records to be disseminated earlier this week.
"It is unfortunate that we are forced to temporarily suspend the release of records but until we can insure that the information that would be released would be correct; we feel this is the only responsible action we can take," Eddie Adamson, CPD police chief said in a release.
As of yesterday morning, the record system was almost back to its full capability, but CPD is still cautious about releasing any records information, a source in CPD who wished to remain anonymous said.
"The integrity of the data is not in question; it is simply the gathering of the data from various modules of the software that is presenting the problem," Adamson said in the release.
"We have a verified backup file of all the records in the system which we can restore but we are allowing the software vendor to attempt to correct the issue with their software before we revert back to the previous version and restore the files. It is our hopes that the issue will be resolved within forty-eight hours but if not we will begin the process of restoring our backup of the data to the previous version of the software."
