VERDEN —
Several fires, which may have been intentional, caused damage to unoccupied buildings in Verden, according to Dale Thompson, Grady County Emergency Management Director.
The state fire marshall has been contacted and the fires are currently being investigated, according to Brandon Sanders, Verden Fire Chief.
The fires have been listed as suspicious, according to Paulette Nicholas, Grady County Emergency Management Deputy.
The statewide burn ban is still in effect for Oklahoma. An executive department amended executive proclamation was issued on Aug. 31, that lists guidelines and exemptions, including agricultural producers exemptions. According to the proclamation, the producer must complete the current form available from the Forestry Services Division of Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Form AG-2012-01), have the form approved in writing by local fire departments, adequate fire lines are constructed and sufficient personnel and equipment are available, wind speeds do not exceed 15 mph and neighbors are notified of the burn. The proclamation said that the Forestry Services Division of Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry can answer specific questions at 405.522.6158. Applications for exemption are available at www.forestry.ok.gov/burn-ban-information.

• The lease agreement between the Chickasha Commercial Center and the Grady County Health Department for the Early Intervention Center was approved.
