MINCO —
Verden head coach Ryan Perry was out sick with the flu Monday, and his Lady Tigers took a first-round loss to the Dibble Lady Demons in the Grady County Tournament.
David Davidson coached the team in place of Perry, and Verden only suited up six players for the 47-25 loss.
The Lady Tigers (7-12) trailed by only five points at the half, and stayed in the game until the third quarter, when Dibble out-scored Verden 16-2.
Verden didn't score in the third quarter until Kaitlynn Embrey hit a shot with 15 seconds in the period. Embrey finished the game with 11 points to lead the Lady Tigers.
Cheyenne Hannah scored eight points.
The Lady Tigers gave up a number of second-chance opportunities to Dibble, especially in the third quarter as the game slipped out of reach.
Verden, now in the consolation side of the bracket, is scheduled to play the loser of the game between Amber-Pocasset and Ninnekah at 7 p.m. Friday.
