Chicks have up-and-down weekend at OU Tourney

NORMAN, Okla. —

The Chickasha High School softball team came away from the Victor Nellis Memorial High School Tournament at OU with a 4-2 overall record, and won their bracket.

After going undefeated Thursday, The Lady Chicks struggled with two losses Friday.

Red Oak, the No. 1 team in class B, beat Chickasha 5-1 in the first game Friday. Madison Snyder had the only RBI of the game, a single that drove in Brook Burns in the fifth inning. Chickasha had only three hits in the game.

Kelsi Gore started the game and pitched four shutout innings before Red Oak rattled off five runs in the fifth inning.

The Lady Chicks took Berryhill to extra innings in the second game before losing 5-4.

Tori Smith went 2-for-3, and Sydney McHugh had an RBI in the game.

Chickasha recovered nicely Saturday, getting two blowout wins and not allowing a single run.

The first game was against Meeker, which the Lady Chicks won 8-0. Chickasha then beat Seminole 13-0.

Snyder pitched the shutout against Meeker and Seminole.

Chickasha is now 16-6 this season, and has three games this week. The first was Monday at home against Duncan, and tonight the Lady Chicks host Tuttle at 5:30 p.m.
