CHICKASHA —
Christy Elkins was recently hired as the new Executive Director of the Chickasha Area Economic Development Council, and will begin fulfilling her duties.
Not only will Elkins help manage the organization, she will work closely with community, educational and business leaders.
Elkins has worked in Oklahoma's economic field for more than eight years, serving as the Vice President of the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation and Regional Development Specialist for the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
Ryan Posey, chairman of the Chickasha Area Economic Development Council and Vice President of Operations for HSI Sensing, led the search for a new executive director after Max McKnight announced his resignation.
"The board unanimously approved the selection of Christy and we are confident that the CAEDC is bringing in the best possible leader for our economic development organization by conducting a thorough national search," Posey said. "We look forward to the future of Chickasha under her leadership."
According to Posey, Elkins' background will benefit Chickasha.
"Christy has extensive knowledge of the economic development process and the State of Oklahoma, and brings with her fresh, new ideas for our community."
Taking Chickasha to the next level is important to Posey and his team.
"The CAEDC is leading our economic development program in a new direction. Today, our community gains a leader that will propel our economic development program forward and take our community gains a leader that will propel our economic development program forward and take our community to the next level," Posey said.
Elkins is originally from Madill and earned her bachelor's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She and her husband, Matthew, will be moving to Chickasha in the near future.
"I am honored and excited to be selected to lead the CAEDC organization. Chickasha has all of the components needed to grow its economy, including an outstanding public school system, university and career tech. I look forward to working with the community to put together a program to grow our local businesses and create new ones," Elkins said.
