New recycling system easy to learn, saves money

CHICKASHA — After numerous questions regarding the new recyclables program in Chickasha The Express-Star has compiled a short how to list that will hopefully alleviate any more questions.

First, recycled goods are picked up on the following days.

If your residential trash day is Monday, then your recycle pickup day is the first Friday of the Month.

If your residential trash day is Tuesday, then your recycle pickup day is the second Friday of the Month.

If your residential trash day is Wednesday, then your recycle pickup day is the third Friday of the Month.

If your residential trash day is Thursday, then your recycle pickup day is the fourth Friday of the Month.

There is no information whether there will be an increase in days that recyclables are picked up according to City Manager Stewart Fairburn.

"It just has not been discussed yet," he said.

For customer service issues regarding the points system residents are encouraged to call RecycleBank, not city hall or the garbage hauler.

The polecats are to be placed with the lid opening side facing the street and the handle facing the house. If this is not accomplished, the trucks will have a hard time picking the polycarts up.

Carts are to be placed at the curb or on the turnout of a resident's driveway before 6 a.m. on the respective pickup day that coincides with trash pickup.

The carts must also be at least five feet from a mailbox, fence, parked car or any other object that may impede Waste Connections ability to grab the cart.

For more information on how to recycle, what to recycle contact Waste Connections.
