The Chickasha High School junior varsity volleyball team took a big step forward Wednesday, winning the Tecumseh Tournament and going undefeated during the competition.
The Lady Chicks won five straight matches and only lost one game.
Chickasha played the host school Tecumseh, and won 25-22 and 25-12. After that, the Lady Chicks beat Drumright 25-11 and 25-18.
Seminole and Community Christian both fell to Chickasha and straight games.
In the final, Chickasha had to face Tecumseh one more time. In the first game, Tecumseh handed the Lady Chicks their first loss of the tournament, 19-25.
"We played well all day long," head coach Nancy Waters said. "When we played Tecumseh in the finals, you could tell [our girls] were nervous and we played tight."
Chickasha was able to bounce back from that, and won game two 25-20 before dominating the closeout game 15-1.
"After they relaxed a little, they were able to finish off the tournament," Waters said. "I'm really proud of how they played, the amount of hustle through the day was amazing, we got to balls all day long, made good passes and that led to easy kills. Serving was fantastic all day long."
The next match for the Lady Chicks is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Lawton Eisenhower, the last home match of the season.
