The zombie apocalypse has begun, just in time for Halloween.
A gaggle of ghoulish teens met at the Chickasha Public Library on Oct. 11 for some eerily good Halloween costume tips from local makeup artist, Laura McCormick and Laura Pool, Chickasha Public Library intern.
The workshop was all about the reasons for the spooky season, a really great costume.
However, it doesn't take a frightening amount of money to transform oneself into the brain-eating undead or a fanged aristocrat.
Fake blood, for example, is simple and cheap to make, according to Pool. A brew of corn syrup, cocoa powder, red food coloring and corn starch for thickness makes a convincing fake blood that can be painted on, dripped and splattered as needed.
Pool showed the teens how tissues can be used to create fake wounds, in case they need something to splash all that good fake blood on. Special grisly effects can be artfully applied with cheap paints.
Because the full effect of a costume is more than an eerie face, Pool displayed some of the costumes that she has made using everything from thrift store finds to duct tape.
Even though the workshop is over, it's not too late to pick up a few bone-chilling tips from the Chickasha Public Library. Pool recommended the following:

Now on the desk of Animal Shelter Supervisor James Kasper, seven kittens saved from a dumpster on Wednesday are making progress toward a time when they can be adopted.
After being plucked from a dumpster on the north side of town, seven kittens now sit in a green carrier in the Chickasha Animal Shelter with a new found sense of hope.
