The season started off in disastrous fashion for the Chickasha High School football team, but a close road win over El Reno last week may have the Fightin' Chicks headed in the right direction.
Chickasha lost 33-2 at home in week one to Anadarko, and looked bad on both sides of the ball.
El Reno may not have been as good as the Warriors, but it was clear the Chicks looked sharper than they did in week one.
Better quarterback play, big-time defensive stops late in the game, and a successful power running game allowed Chickasha to beat El Reno 15-14.
This week, Chickasha faces the Cache Bulldogs for homecoming. Cache went 1-9 last season, and hasn't made the playoffs since 2000.
However, the Bulldogs return six players on offense, giving them experience at the skill positions.
The Cache offensive line has lost some players, and could be something for the Chickasha defensive front line to exploit.
Kickoff between Chickasha High School and Cache is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Homecoming parade will take place at 4 p.m., and Homecoming ceremonies will be held at halftime of the game.
