Women's Soccer: Strong second gives Drovers the win

CHICKASHA —

Appearing to have begun to turn the season around, the Drover women grabbed a third straight win thanks to a strong second half on Friday evening.

Taking on Northwood University, the Drovers got up early with a header from sophomore Megan Wilkerson off a corner kick by senior Taylor Fain just three minutes into the game.

It was nearly 20 minutes later when the Drovers gave up a goal to the Knights’ Laura Barba. The game went into halftime tied at one a piece.

Senior Calli Cooper — off an assist by Kelli Korleski — scored the game-winning goal to give the Drovers the lead once again. Fifteen minutes later, senior Kaitlyn Witty scored the Drovers’ final goal off an assist by Ryah Vyse. USAO won 3-1.

Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Worcester collected six saves and her third win of the season.

The Drovers advance to a 3-4 overall record. They travel to Bethany College to play at 2 p.m. Thursday. They will return home for their conference opener against Saint Gregory’s at 4 p.m. Sept. 27.
