ALEX —
Alex senior and Canadian Valley Technology Center student Cody Alexander died tragically yesterday morning in a collision involving a large Mack truck on Highway 19.
Alex High School Principal Doug Tolson said the school brought in councilors from career tech and neighboring schools to offer emotional help to students and faculty.
"We had an assembly and talked to our students," he said. "We also have had some local ministers come and help as well."
Tolson said the mood at the school varied, with some students that seemed to be dealing with the tragedy well and others who were very emotional.
The CVTC posted a message on their Facebook expressing the school's sorrow and condolences for Alexander and his family.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Cody Alexander and our thoughts and prayers are with the Alexander family," the post reads.
Yesterday's weather conditions played a role in the accident according to a report from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
