Verden Tigers move on to regional tournament

—

The Verden High School baseball team won its regional tournament last week, dominating in games against Milburn and Mill Creek.

The Tigers went 3-0 in the tournament. They started with a 15-0 win over Milburn and a 19-0 win over Mill Creek on Thursday at Mill Creek High School.

Friday, Verden beat Mill Creek 12-5 to clinch the district title.

The Tigers have had some time off to prepare for the regional tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday with a game against Lookeba-Sickles High School at Lookeba.

Verden will be looking for revenge, as the Tigers have lost two games to Lookeba-Sickles this season.

On Aug. 20, Verden lost 5-3 in a road game, and a week later on Aug. 27 Lookeba-Sickles won an extra-innings game over Verden in the Eakly Labor Day Tournament.

Verden and Lookeba-Sickles will be joined in the regional by Olustee High School and Dover High School.

Verden did not play Dover this season, but lost to Olustee on Aug. 11.
