GRADY COUNTY —
The Grady County Sheriff's office received approval to use funds raised during the Feb. 9, 2013 fund raiser yesterday.
The Grady Commissioners voted to pass the item during their weekly meeting.
Continental Resources was granted an oil and gas lease during the meeting as well.
District Two County Commissioner Mike Lennier said the county land will yield 3/16 percent royalty revenue for energy excavated from the lease.
Although an artist has been selected to redesign the Grady County seal, Lennier said the commissioners were not ready to unveil who that artist is just yet.
"We like her (the artist's) ideas a lot," he said. "Here in the next few weeks we are going to publicly recognize the artist and come out with a new seal."
Grady County Emergency Management Director Dale Thompson updated the commissioners on his actions over the next week in the meeting.
Thompson said he and his assistant will travel to a tornado summit next week and advised the court to be weary of potential rain chances in the weekend's forecast.
Thompson also reminded the court that the Friend Fire Department will have its annual fund raiser March 12.
The court was slated to discuss and approve helping the Comanche Tribe in road construction, but no one from the tribe came to yesterday's meeting to discus the issue, Lennier said.
