CHICKASHA —
After a strong performance in a shutout over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College, USAO junior Chris Fischer was named Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Fischer, in his first career start as a Drover, threw five innings, striking out 10 batters and allowing just a single hit in the game. The Drovers went on to win the Saturday afternoon game 7-0.
Fischer (1-1) has a batting average against of .154 for the season in his three appearances for USAO.
This is the second week in a row a USAO pitcher received such honors.
He joined the Drovers this year directly from the University of New Mexico. He previously pitched at Midland College and Paradise Valley Community College.
He is a business junior from Moriarty, N.M., and the son of Jimmy and Monica Fischer.
